The Path to A Successful Resolution

This year I am going to do it. I'm going to be in the best shape I have ever been in since high school! I'm going to eat right and exercise! I-will-do it...!
Yes! Once again a new year is staring us in the face. Once again we set goals for fitness or whatever the resolution may be. For this particular post I will focus on the fitness resolution. We all have or know someone who has set one or two or three of the same fitness resolutions only tho fall short because of not being smart about it. WHEN DOES THE MADNESS STOP?!

Let's break it down. Many people start out with this line: "I'm going to start eating right after the holidays." If you are guilty, comment "I" in the comment section lol! No worries. In October we normally star thinking about the little pieces of candy we did not want our kids to eat from Trick or Treating once we've gobbled them down day by day and then say: Hmm, it's time for me to start eating right. Then we think about the holidays that follow Halloween and remember that there will be lots of good food that you have probably been waiting on since last year and can't wait to get into your belly.

There is absolutely no reason why you couldn't eat all the good food you want so go ahead and have the three different types of meat, the potatoes, greens, breads, and not to mention, the cakes! You can have it all but do me one huge favor...... do it in MODERATION. I know it's been a while since you've had your favorite sibling's green been casserole among many other dishes and you plan on working hard in the beginning of the year to get in shape. Why wait? Consume in moderation so you do not pack on excessive weight and unwanted fat. With that said, I personally am going to enjoy some sweet potato pie, baked chicken, collard greens, zettits with radish and more!

Set S.M.A.R.T. goals:
Sensible: If you feel unsettled about your goal initially, rethink it.
Manageable: Ask yourself how can you make this goal mesh with your daily schedule.
Attainable: Never set you goal too high. Ex: I'm going to lose 30 lbs this month and you lose 12 so you feel discouraged and quit. Don't set yourself up for failure.
Realistic: It's okay to be ambitious but keep it real with your conscious.
Timely: Plot a time frame in which you would like to accomplish your goal. Hold yourself accountable and get-er-done!

AFTER MEAL TIP:
Rather than falling asleep on the couch, try taking a nice walk around the block with your family. This is a good way to stimulate digestion as well as burn a few calories.

As always, thank you for your time and for putting your health first.
