Attitude Check

How many times have you had a self pep-talk in order to simply go to the gym? Oh no, leg day......ugh, right. It's about time for an attitude check. Let's kick it in gear!
There are many reasons one may need an attitude check before entering a gym or even thinking about going to the gym/working out. Let's see, "I have had a long day at work, I can just hit it tomorrow." "Today is back day; the longest workout of the week," or "I can't find anything to wear." Believe it or not, those are demotivating statements that are commonly used when one really does not want to workout. Making statements like that can really zip your energy even before you lift one weight or do one push-up.

Here are some techniques that can be used for motivation to work out or go to the gym:

1. During a long day at work, think about an interesting and exciting workout you can add to your routine that sparks your interest. Find some great workouts at Workout Callout on Facebook.
2. Head phones make a great motivation tool. Jam to your favorite up-temps songs as you work out. Be sure to not have your music so loud that it makes you sing or grunt louder than normal when you lift.
3. If you don't feel like going to the gym, just go anyway. Once you enter the atmosphere and see individuals getting their sweat on, it should spark something inside you to make you want to join them. You will feel better once it's all over.
4. If you workout alone, try teaming up with someone doing the same work out as you for the day. You will be surprised at how many people who work out alone want someone to help them push a little harder so don't be shy; step up and ask someone.
5. Change up your routine. If you didn't want to work out because it was leg day, do arms instead. Be strategically pliable with our routine. Don't torture yourself.
6. Always remember why you started getting fit in the first place. Sometimes it is necessary to step back a little and remember how you felt when you were out of shape, flabby, and not happy when you looked in the mirror.
7. Keep a before picture of yourself. You know, the one where bulging in all the wrong places. If that doesn't get you in the gym or working out, then I don't know what will buddy.

With all that said, it's really all about your attitude when you work out in or out side the gym. You have to hit the gym like it just slapped you in the face. You have to work out as if you are on a mission. You attitude determines results just as much as eating well or working out. If your attitude is that of a slacker; ergo my friend, you will get slacker results in vice-versa. Check your attitude before you hit the gym floor. Tell yourself that you will get results. Tell yourself you are fit. Tell yourself you are the woman or man!
Whatever it is you have to say to yourself before you work out, just say it. Look in the mirror into your eyes, say it, and mean it!

As always, thank you for your time and for putting your health first.
