I love going to the gym and getting a good workout. After a long day at work it feels good to relieve some stress in the gym. It also feels good to bask in the ambiance of the gym as well; you know, the sound of steel plates clinging together, the grunts, and rock music (that's more of my preference) but you get it right. So does that mean that having a gym membership is more of a luxury or a necessity?
Going to the gym to some means you have an out. There is nothing in your way to reaching your fitness goals. It's just you and the weights. No annoying sounds because your head phones are in your ears pumping your favorite songs. No pressure from any outside sources, no boss, no, computer, no nonsense. You are at the gym because you are on a mission. Your body will be in the best condition ever in the end. Your health will improve. You Willie a more confident you when it's all said and done. Your stress level will fall, you will think more clearly because of the increased blood flow to your brain, and you will sleep better at night.
I can go on all day about the benefits of working out in the gym. Some people need that atmosphere to get motivated for better health. If that's what it takes, then by all means go or it! If you function better in a gym then who can say it is a luxury? Subjective right? If you were struggling on bills and the gym was one, would you cancel your membership? We will get back to that question.
On the other hand, there are those who use the gym as a means to pick up a man or woman, those who want to show off their new tight fitting gym fashion, or just to have something to do. I'm not knocking what you do at all, go for it. However, I do pose the same question as before; If you were struggling on bills, would you cancel your gym membership? It may be easier for the described individual to say "yes" to that question.
Regardless of what you use the gym for, there is one thing that gym users have in common and that is the gym is part of their lives in one way or the other. Some may find it easy to give up their membership and those are the ones that professional personal trainers have to be steer clear from, but that's another blog. Then there are those who will not cancel their gym membership no matter what is going on in their lives because they know and believe that their health is always the number one priority and working out in the gym is a means of achieving and maintaining good health.
Sure you don't necessarily need a gym to achieve or maintain good health but then it becomes more of a challenge to do so. You may not have the knowledge needed to do all the effective exercises that you once did in the gym. You may not be as motivated to work out when you are not in the gym because the gym atmosphere stimulation is gone. It is common when this happens one may say I'll take today off and work out tomorrow, that turns into two days, and two days turns into three, and three turns into your old ways of being out of shape.
If the gym is a luxury to you then you will most likely cancel when bills get tight, so it is easier to say "yes" to the posed question. If the gym is a necessity then you will most likely say "no" to the posed question and will always find a way to keep your membership current. Trainers love you people.
As always, thank you for your time and for putting your health first.
