Have you met your goal yet? Are you still working on it or have you simply forgotten about it?
So it's March, the third month of the first quarter of the year. Remember that fitness goal you set at the beginning of 2017? Was it a goal to lose weight? Was it a goal to gain muscle? Was it a goal to just eat right and gain better health? How is that going for you? Did you plan properly? If you hit your goal pat yourself on the back. If you did not hit your goal, at least you took the first step and planned. You also took the next step and attempted so congratulations! Below are some steps you can take to help you plan your goal, to help you reach your goal, and conquer it!
1. Planning: No matter what your goal is you must have a plan.
2. Put your plan in writing: See your plan on paper, it helps with visualizing the journey.
3. Details are important: Write out how you are going to achieve your goal. For example, I'm going to lose 10 pounds in one month.
* reduce my calories be 500 per day
* workout three times per week for 30 minutes
* drink eight cups of water
4. Be realistic about your goal: Sure we want amazing health and "the perfect body" right now but realistically, it takes time and patience. It may happen in three months or even a year depending on your goal but do remember that as long as you stay on course and stay focused, you will get to that goal.
5. Be honest with yourself: What I mean is you're not going to lose 20 pounds in a week. Be honest and just focus on the first 10 pounds. Once you hit that goal, go for the next 10. Setting too high of a weight goal will leave you discouraged and back to not giving a damn if you don't hit it. Don't do that.
6. Find a buddy: Sometimes we need a physical body there with us for a boost of motivation. Find someone with the same fitness goal and hold each other accountable.
7. Share: We live in a highly social world today with social media platforms of all sorts. Post your journey on your page. Tag people in. You never know who you could inspire. You never know who could give you that extra encouragement to go the extra mile. You don't have to be part of some promotional product line or in a club. Just be you and post.
8. Make it a lifestyle: Getting to your goal is one thing. It's like the dog who chased the bus, only to catch it and walk away. We're not going to walk away from this. That's why making it (fitness) a lifestyle is so important. Don't hit your goal only to repeat the same goal again the next year. Don't do that. Hold on to that goal and see how it can be improved upon the next year. That's how we make it a lifestyle. That how we get it and remain that way. Remember, fitness is more than physical, it's mental as well as spiritual but your body needs to carry you through the awesome journey that awaits. Keep it up champ!
