The Illusion of Healthy: 3 Rules to Help Guide Your Decisions

What looks good to you is not always good for you. There are many foods that are made of wheat but are dressed up with fun sugary toppings, filled with jelly, etc. Don't be fooled by the allure of wheat my friends....
I can't begin to tell you how many times I have heard someone say what are biscuits healthy. And every time they said I told them one simple thing look at the ingredients. When you read the label on any food item if it's too much to read then that's a good indication that is not healthy. Here are three great pointers to help clarify the illusion.

1. When you go to a restaurant and you see meals for under 500 calories; that would be good thing if calories is only thing that you're watching and not sodium. Ask to take a gander at the nutritional menu for those 500 calories meals. You will be shocked at what your training just to get a few less calories. Try it. Just ask your waiter.

2. As for reading labels, in doing so read all the ingredients and see how many you can actually pronounce and then understand. To take matters a step further, look up each ingredient that you do not understand and again you'll be shocked at what you find. You probably heard this before and it is no cliché; if the ingredients are simple then there's a high possibility that it is healthy. For instance, the ingredients for oats is simply, oats.

3. Too much of anything is not good. Let's take fruit for an example, I absolutely encourage you to do so. However, if you eat a huge fruit salad bowl, you're packing on close to or as many calories and as much sugar as eating a bag of bite-size candies. Moderation is the key my friends even with healthy foods. Okay. Okay. You can have one candy.

So remember; look at the nutrition info when dining out. Read food labels. If the words are difficult to pronounce, put it down and back-away-slowly. Lastly, moderation is the key. Eating too much of a healthy food can be detrimental to your health.

As always, thank you for your time and for putting your health first.
